Technology’s Grip

We are more connected than ever, yet somehow more alone. Technology’s Grip explores what we lose when every moment runs through a screen. The show opens with the simple, human warmth of the Shaker hymn “Simple Gifts” before the world is pulled into the glow of its devices, driven by Ivan Trevino’s “Electric Thoughts,” Randall Standridge’s “Pulse” and John Mackey’s Concerto for Percussion. As the grip tightens, Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” reminds us of the people right beside us. In the end, the performers look up from their screens and rediscover one another. It’s time to disconnect — and reconnect.
